1. See what is using iCloud
Settings › your name › iCloud shows a bar with Photos, Backups, Messages, Documents and Mail. Tap Storage — called Manage Account Storage on some iOS versions — for the list, biggest first.
2. Make the photo library smaller
With iCloud Photos on, every photo and video counts against iCloud. Deleting duplicates and compressing big videos on your iPhone shrinks the library everywhere, because the changes sync.
3. Remove old backups
- Open Settings › your name › iCloud › Storage › Backups.
- Tap a device you no longer use.
- Tap Turn Off and Delete from iCloud, and confirm.
4. Clear iCloud Drive and attachments
In the Files app, browse iCloud Drive and sort by size. In Messages, Settings › Apps › Messages › Keep Messages set to 1 Year stops old attachments piling up.
