Select and delete multiple photos in Photos
- Open Photos. On iOS 18, swipe down to see the full photo grid; on iOS 26 or later, view your library or open a collection.
- Tap Select.
- Tap photos one by one, or slide your finger across them to select a whole run.
- Tap the Trash button, then confirm.
Delete photos in bulk by type
Media Types in Photos gathers screenshots, screen recordings, bursts and videos, and Utilities holds the Duplicates album. Clearing those first removes a lot without a decision per photo. On iOS 26 or later, both are under Collections; on iOS 18, scroll down.
Swipe to delete photos one by one
The rest of a library needs a yes or no for each photo, and that is slow in a grid. Phone Cleaner's Swipe tab shows one photo at a time.
- Open the Swipe tab and pick where to start: Random, Recents, Screenshots, a month or one of your albums.
- Swipe left to send a photo to the trash, or right to keep it.
- Changed your mind? Tap Undo to bring back the last card.
- Back on the Swipe tab, tap the Trash pill to open Review & Remove. Switch off anything you want to keep, then tap Remove and confirm.
Nothing is deleted while you swipe. Photos you trash only wait in a list until you confirm, and after that they go to Recently Deleted, where iOS keeps them for 30 days.
Get the space back
Deleted photos still use space while they are in Recently Deleted. To free it now, open Recently Deleted under Utilities in Photos, tap View Album, tap Select, tap the More button and tap Delete All.
