Phone Cleaner is the on-device iPhone cleaner — now made for iPhone Duo.See what's new

Work biggest first

Settings › General › iPhone Storage shows what uses space, largest first. On most iPhones that is Photos, then a few apps and Messages.

1. Photos and videos

Delete duplicates, near-identical shots, screenshots and blurry photos, and compress or remove your largest videos. These are usually the biggest single win.

Animated walkthrough of Phone Cleaner: scan the library, see the space to clean on the Clean tab, open Duplicate Photos and delete the extras.
Step 1 of 5Phone Cleaner scans your library on your iPhone. The first scan happens once; after that it only checks what's new.

2. Message attachments

  1. Open Settings › General › iPhone Storage › Messages to see how much space messages and their attachments use. If iOS offers a recommendation there, tap it to review what you can delete.
  2. In Messages, open a conversation and tap the name at the top. On iOS 26 or later, tap Photos; on iOS 18, scroll to Photos and tap See All.
  3. Tap Select — on iOS 26 or later, tap Edit first — choose the attachments you no longer need, tap Delete and confirm.

To stop old messages piling up, set Settings › Apps › Messages › Keep Messages to 1 Year or 30 Days.

3. Apps you don't use

Turn on Settings › Apps › App Store › Offload Unused Apps. Offloaded apps keep their documents and data and reinstall with a tap.

4. Safari website data

Settings › Apps › Safari › Clear History and Website Data removes cached pages and site data. You will be signed out of websites.

Questions

What takes the most space on an iPhone?

Usually photos and videos, then a few large apps and Messages attachments.

Will offloading an app delete my data?

No. Offloading removes the app but keeps its documents and data; reinstalling brings it back as it was.
